Did you catch the brilliant white of flowering blackberry canes this year? You could easily miss it in the handful of days before pounding rains quieted the five-petaled flowers shining from almost every shady tangle. It had my attention, and though I missed my chance to sketch it, I vowed not to miss the fruit later this summer.
