Nature Watch, Sept. 23, 2026

September 22, 2026

Equinox! On Sept. 22, the sun will rise due east from any point on the globe. Same for sunset, due west, before that point starts moving farther south each morning in the northern hemisphere. Week by week it moves south until we are in the depth of winter, when it makes only a small arc in the south. And the excitement that we feel in March when the spring equinox brings the sun back again to that same point of rising as it heads north into high summer!
