My beloved sister, Donna Romero, left her physical body on Monday, July 20, 2026. Her passing was peaceful and profound with a dear friend and her beloved daughter at hand. She and I talked on Friday for more than three hours — lengthy talks being our forte since last fall. On Friday her wit and wisdom and intellect were all as fresh and multifaceted as a first snowfall or the brilliant green of a new leaf just fully opened in a Vermont spring. What a gift for me!
For those of you who loved and appreciated my sister, you will know in your hearts how best to honor her passing. Simply remembering things about her, like her passion for the arts; her own wide array of artistic talents; her insatiable curiosity about life and how to live it to its fullest; her ever-present connection to and concern for the Earth and all its amazing creatures; her passion for lying in a deep, freezing cold brook; or — when something struck her funny bone just right — her uncontrollable fits of genuine, heartfelt laughter. Any fond memories you recall are wonderful tributes to her, and she will immediately join you in them, as she has this week with me.
Oh, Da! I already miss your voice, your laugh, your physical presence more than words can ever impart. My journey of a lifetime with you had some ups and downs, of course, but we have shared the most complete and amazing journey of friendship, camaraderie, and sisterhood as I have ever experienced. Thank you! Bless you! God’s speed my evermost precious sister. I’m looking forward to our next adventure together with eager enthusiasm and curiosity. With heart and soul from your beloved sister.
