WATERBURY — This year’s 25th annual Waterbury Arts Fest will celebrate the launch of “Discover Waterbury,” the organization’s new name following 35 years as “Revitalizing Waterbury.” The Waterbury Arts Fest and Block Party will take place July 10 and 11 on Railroad Street behind the historic train station in downtown Waterbury.
Friday evening’s Block Party begins at 5 p.m. with live music from the Sara Whitehair Band, followed by Vermont favorites The Full Cleveland. Guests can enjoy food from more than a dozen food vendors, a beer garden hosted by Big Tree Brewing, and family-friendly lawn games. Visitors who make a donation to Discover Waterbury will receive a raffle ticket for prize baskets filled with local items and gift certificates valued at more than $300 each.
On Saturday, more than 100 artists and vendors will fill the Arts Market on the lawn at Pilgrim Park. Visitors can shop for handmade art and crafts, participate in family-friendly activities at MakerSphere’s Creation Station, bid in a silent auction featuring artwork donated by participating artists, savor offerings from local food vendors, and take in a full day of live entertainment. The Green Mountain Performing Arts dancers will kick off the festivities at 10 a.m., followed by performances from Season of Yes, and Pluto Rising. The day concludes with Soulstice, whose high-energy blend of ska and reggae provides a fitting festival finale.
