All kinds of species came out for the May 3 All Species Day in Montpelier during the City’s annual Mayfest. The event, organized by AllTogetherNow, was not dampened by the cool and rainy day. The day started at noon in Hubbard Park with “calling in the creatures of the four directions, honoring the awakening of spring with song, dance, and puppet pageantry,” according to the event website. Then the parade started from Hubbard Park to the Statehouse lawn, filled with costumes and drama, an ode to the natural world. Photos by John Lazenby.
