Paul Carnahan
Wyman’s General Painting and Spraying was an early Montpelier auto painting company founded by Everett H. Wyman in 1927. It quickly grew to specialize in painting gasoline stations and fuel tanks across New England and New York. The company, still located in Montpelier, evolved to selling and maintaining service station equipment into the 1980s. In the summer of 1936 the company took on extra workers to meet the demand for its services, despite the country being in the midst of the Great Depression. Here’s a photograph of the staff posing on top of the company’s garage at 62 River Street. Today, a new building in that location houses Sherwin Williams Paints and Heather’s Nearly New.
