Lantern-carrying locals turned out for Montpelier Alive’s bridge-lighting celebration and Lantern Parade on Saturday, Nov. 22. The downtown area’s seven main bridges were illuminated with multi-colored LEDs last year and this year three new ones were lighted, bringing the total to 10 illuminated bridges. After the bridges were all lighted, the marchers, led by the Brass Balagan Band, strolled out of the starting point on Langdon Street — many of them carrying lanterns made in workshops over the past two weeks. They proceeded down Main Street, then across the newly lighted bridge on the recreation path by Shaws’ supermarket, and back the recreation path to Taylor Street.
