Peg Tassey will be playing in Montpelier for the first time in over 20 years on Friday, July 25, at Charlie’O’s in Montpelier. Peg, who’s 90’s band Peg Tassey & Proud Of It cut their musical teeth playing in central Vermont, from The Pyralisk Art Gallery to The Woodbury Fire Department on the back of a flatbed truck.
Tassey had a vocal cord injury in the year 2000 and after healing and finding some awesome band mates, including her daughter Audrey, has been playing again with her new band Peg Tassey & The Loud Flowers.
They will play “Music To Kiss By while the patriarchy eats itself alive” at Charlie O’s World Famous in Montpelier. Charlie O’s is also known as “a Dive for nice people” and also happens to possess the oldest continually held liquor license by a single owner in Vermont and has been a bar since the 1860s. Peg Tassey & The Loud Flowers are excited to kick off their Summer series of shows at this historically cool venue and will be playing on the outdoor stage (weather permitting).
Opening the show at 8 p.m. will be very special with guests visiting from Austin, Ethan and Francis Azarian (son and grandson of Tom Banjo) with their hopelessly original, refreshingly out-of-touch original music. Ethan has been a beloved and much revered musician in Vermont for many years.
At 8:30 p.m. the Azarians are followed by Burlington alt-rockers Hissy Fit, who fill a void in the male-dominated music scene and make music that’s politically conscious, blunt, angry, unapologetic, and fun. The band hopes to inspire other musicians to make music about issues that they care about and as a medium for enacting change.
Peg Tassey & The Loud Flowers play at 9 p.m. and the show will end at 10 p.m. if outside and 11 p.m. if inside.
