Come celebrate the launch of “One Imagined Word at a Time” an anthology of best writings from Writers for Recovery. This is the seventh publication of best works from folks who have been in Writers for Recovery workshops over the last year.
The event will be on Sunday July 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the Montpelier Performing Arts Hub, 35 College Street, Montpelier. Admission is FREE! There will be a reading, cake, conversation and fun; come hear folks read from their work and talk about the power of writing in their recovery.
Here are some samples of pieces that will be read at the event:
.So many dreams left behind.
Caught up in a bad choice.
How do I get to the shore safely?
The ship is breaking up
I am floating on pieces
But I make it to the shore…
—
…Being there is better than not.
Uncomfortable chairs, crappy coffee.
It beats the alternative
And it keeps me in the present.
If I wasn’t there I would be stuck with the worst person: Me.
Being there has kept me here.
So I think I will keep going.
Writers for Recovery celebrates 12 years of producing workshops for folks in recovery across Vermont and the United States.
Writing workshops are focused on stories of addiction and recovery. Participants write about their personal stories of struggle, perseverance, moments of doubt and inspiration and the slow but steady work of renewal and healing from addiction. Workshops include creative writing, poetry, non-fiction, and even some humor!
WFR is a powerful way to connect and we have fun doing it. Go tour our website to learn more and join us on July 19; all are welcome.
