Carla OccasoEAST MONTPELIER — A Berlin man and a Middlesex woman have been charged with allegedly allowing minors to imbibe alcohol during a party in East Montpelier Aug. 9. Vermont State Police reported troopers responded to an underage drinking party around 43 minutes after midnight on a property along the County Road.
During their investigation, Lucky Boardman, 42, of Berlin, allegedly impeded troopers, and he also allegedly enabled minors to drink alcohol. Additionally, Sophie Bowater, 55, of Middlesex allegedly arrived at the party and also enabled the minors to drink.
Boardman and Bowater were issued citations to appear in Washington County Superior Court, Criminal Division, on Sept. 10.
Vermont state law Title 7, section 658, states that knowingly enabling consumption of alcohol by people under the age of 21 can result in fines “not less than $500 nor more than $2,000 or imprisoned not more than two years or both.”
