MONTPELIER — Montpelier’s Country Club Road Subcommittee voted unanimously July 10 to recommend DEW Properties as the developer for the proposed housing project on Country Club Road.
The recommendation now goes to the city council, which will authorize the city manager to negotiate a letter of intent and development agreement with DEW.
The recommendation followed nearly 30 committee meetings to evaluate proposals and refine plans for the site. Subcommittee members said both finalists — DEW Properties and New Hampshire-based Chinburg Properties — submitted strong proposals and received positive references during the vetting process. Members said DEW’s proposal better aligned with community feedback, citing its emphasis on homeownership, a mix of housing types, preservation of recreation space, and integration with the surrounding neighborhood. Committee members also said references praised DEW’s ability to work with local contractors.
DEW was also selected by the Barre City Council in late June to develop Prospect Heights, a roughly 100-home housing development off Prospect Street
