In addition to being central to the life of the small town of Elmore for 200 years, the Elmore Store has become a resource for the many visitors to Elmore State Park and the popular beach on the north end of Lake Elmore, long christened “The Beauty Spot of Vermont.” The re-opening was on July 6, 2025, and revives a waypoint along Vermont Route 12 between Montpelier and Morrisville.
During the past year, the store, which continues to host the village post office, has come under the ownership of the Elmore Community Trust and has been substantially expanded and refurbished throughout.
Managing the store’s renovation and operation are Tim and Becca Lindenmeyr, who have a longstanding relationship with the Elmore community. In addition to creating a larger retail and food service space, including a deck overlooking the lake, the historic building now provides an upstairs co-working space available to individuals or for small meetings.
The Elmore Store is a central hub for the 886 residents of the town, but also serves commuters and travelers on Vermont Route 12 and those swimming, boating, hiking, and camping at the Elmore State Park and Elmore Mountain.

Sister Shop
The Lindenmeyrs also operate the Farm Shop on Vermont Route 116 in Shelburne, where their 15-acre farm is focused on strategies for a local, micro-economy that extends beyond food.
“We have decided to first focus on botanical body care and household products based on herbs and sunflower seed oil — everything from cleansers and lotions to biodegradable laundry and dish soaps,” the Farm Shop website explains.
They also grow, harvest, and cold-press organic sunflower seed oil, and raise bees with organic methods and harvest honey, beeswax and propolis, all products available at the Elmore Store.
